Backpack wine tasting at Lake Walen

Your wine experience starts at the Hotel Restaurant Seehof in Walenstadt. Here you will receive your backpack with everything you need. The route takes you through a varied landscape: lakeside paths, sparse forests and viewpoints with distant views over the vines and the lake. Along the way, there are always beautiful places to stop for a rest and a taste. The experience is complemented by snacks (depending on the rucksack chosen) and entertaining information via audio guide (only in German) - about viticulture, the region and what makes this landscape so special. Whether alone, as a couple or with friends: This wine hike is ideal for anyone who wants to combine enjoyment with exercise.

You have a choice of three options:

Backpack Classic

• 3 wines (3 x 5dl) from different wineries, including 1 white wine, 1 rosé and 1 red wine
• 1 bottle of mineral water (5dl) per person
• 1 pack (150 g) of Brewbee Tschipps "Sea Salt"
• Glasses
• Napkins
• Füllmi (garbage bag for a clean Heidiland)

Backpack Medium

• Same contents as Backpack Classic
• 2 pairs of Landjäger (200 g)
• 1 piece of Alpine cheese (200 g)
• 4 slices of bread

Backpack Deluxe

• Same contents as Backpack Classic
• 4 pairs of Landjäger (200 g)
• 2 pieces of alpine cheese (200 g)
• 8 slices of bread

One backpack is designed for up to 4 people. How many backpacks you book depends entirely on how thirsty and hungry you are.

Notes

• You will need your cell phone to listen to the audio guides (only in German), headphones optional (please bring your own)
• The wine tasting is for adults aged 16 and over
• We recommend light trekking shoes for the hike
• Own backpack recommended for additional drinks and clothing
• The backpack will be returned to the restaurant Seehof
• Enjoy dinner after your wine tasting in the Restaurant Seehof

Note: The audio guides are not bound to the suggested route. If you prefer a different route or would like to enjoy the wine and the audio guide at the same place, this is no problem. However, we recommend that you follow the order of the audio guides.

How to get there

By public transportWe recommend traveling by public transport to Walenstadt train station. Take the B442 bus in the direction of Flums, Bahnhof to the bus stop Walenstadt, Hafen. Then walk approx. 90 meters to the Hotel Restaurant Seehof. 

By car: Paid parking available at the Hotel Restaurant Seehof.

• Bookable from September to November 2025, everyday
• A total of 5 backpacks are available. The contents of a backpack are intended for a maximum of 4 people
• Online and by phone: until shortly before the start of the tour, if backpacks are still available
